Okay, you get an idea, then what?
I got the idea – great! Didn’t have a clue what to do next – boo!
Cast your mind back a couple of posts to me writing about Tony Shepherd’s Affordable Mentoring Newsletter. I’m on Tony’s email list. A few months ago he emailed me offering a coaching place in his – wait for it – plugin building coaching course. I jumped at it!
The UK is very tight on who can give legal advice. You can only give legal advice if you are qualified. I needed to know if I could get someone else to write the legal pages so I could make them into a plugin and sell it.
Naturally, I had legal advice on this one. The answer was “Yes” but only if I was selling the plugin after a qualified legal advisor had drafted (written) the legal pages. Phew! That was a relief.
But then the challenge was finding out the other info. This was where Tony Shepherd and his business partner, Tony Newton, came in useful. The experience and knowledge they’d gained over years in business meant that they knew “a little bloke who could help with….” Get my drift?
Weekly training sessions with them gleaned amazing people. The words “Have you thought about your logo?” stopped me. Logo? Me? Er….
They recommended LogoNerds.com (not an affiliate link). They were brilliant! Did my logo and sales graphics. Well pleased with them! They also recommended GFX-1.com (affiliate link) for the graphical sales letter.
Fear crept up and I let it overtake me. My mind played silly buggers with me and showed me images of losing my home, having to live on the street, my friends turning away from me. The worst possible scenarios.
I recognised it for what it was. FEAR is an acronym for Fantasy Experienced As Reality. I remembered the late Susan Jeffers’ book, “Feel the Fear – and do it Anyway” so I started doing it anyway.
Just remember that fear creeps up on all of us, sooner or later. That’s me in coach mode and in product creator mode.
Keep your Passion
There’s a lot of work involved bringing your “baby” from a thought “That’s a good idea” to up for sale on your website or Zaxaa.com or another marketplace. It’s easy to get sidetracked. I’m an expert on getting sidetracked *hangs head in shame*, much to my coach’s frustration.
When you’re waiting for others to complete their “bit”, do something productive relating to your product. It could end up as your One Time Offer, or something for your sales funnel. Stay focussed. Like I said, it’s easy to get sidetracked. Before you know it, another month’s passed by and it still isn’t for sales.
If you were going to create a product, what would it be?
‘Til next time
